It’s something many aim for but few truly manage, creating a subtle, stylish, and elegantly simple animated film. In my experience, it often falls short because the starting point is a script that’s far too dense and complicated. Once that happens, simplicity becomes impossible.
This project was different. Kaptcha stayed committed to keeping the script clean and focused, which in turn allowed the animation to have space and rhythm. Ironically, that restraint opened up far more creative freedom than a more complex brief could have ever afforded.
PROCESS
As always, the process began with a storyboard, developing ideas in collaboration with the Kaptcha team. Exploring different directions made it easy to see what worked and what didn’t, and gave everyone the chance to gently steer me away from a few of the more ridiculous suggestions. The final storyboard translated almost directly into the finished animation, with very few changes along the way. Simple, effective, and exactly how you’d hope it goes.
