Williams F1
Williams F1 Launch
TITLE: Williams F1 Launch
ROLES: Design and Animation
AGENCY: Wiser Films
CLIENT: Williams F1 Racing
Description:
For the Williams F1 Livery Launch, I collaborated closely with Jim from Wiser Films to create the required graphics package. The challenge arose from Williams being amid a rebrand. Navigating the evolving brand identity while adhering to legal constraints required us to develop graphics sympathetic to the brand's shifting scope. Jim’s leadership throughout the project was instrumental, ensuring everything stayed on track—a significant achievement given the circumstances.
Our initial concept involved animating the screens against a CG car and building the titles around this idea. However, on the day of the shoot, it was decided that the best approach was to film the car in situ. We integrated our finalised graphics into these shots, enhancing them with additional effects. This method allowed us to deliver a cohesive and visually striking final product.
PROCESS
Our initial approach focused on crafting a fully animated sequence, with animated walls providing dynamic lighting and reflections against the car. This challenge was primarily tackled using Adobe After Effects, and while it was an exciting exploration, we had to pivot from our original concept.
We then stripped the car of the Williams Livery and added our own unique design. With some adjustments to the wall animations, we were able to bring our vision to life.
